Margaret (Maggie)'s Story

Life 2008 Update: (Look for updated entries by finding the "*" ) For all of you who check in every year or so, much of my bio is the same... I'm still hoping that some long lost bud's (like Rhonda Osborne, from JJHS...) will log on to Classmates one of these days.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **Gary & I celebrate 17 years of marriage in June. Our kids, daughter Rena, just turned 15 (and 5'8"!!!), the boys, Andrew is 12 and Aaron is 10. For the time being, we are still living in Killeen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ****Biggest changes lately???? **We will be heading to NW Arkansas to live on a 100 acre ranch (Restoration Ranch) this Spring, June at the latest. Helping out some old friends from Florida who are opening up a Natural Food Store in Branson, MO (just up the highway from the ranch). They are also building up their ranch into a retreat and ministry center...which we will be busy work, work, working on all kinds things...Not to mention the horseback riding and hiking in the Ozarks!!! **Gary works on the road a lot with Dyn Corp, so he'll continue with them until he likes being on the ranch more than working on helicopters! *In preparation for the move, we're downsizing....and decluttering some more. I've been greatly inspired by the FLYLADY (she's an online coach at flylady.net) **Also in preparation for our transition to country living, we have begun HomeSchooling. Yes, I said HOMESCHOOLING, our 3 kids! Freshman, 6th grader and 5th grader. It's actually quite fun (and challenging too, but for me, as their teacher, the challenge is in all the right places to help me grow into a stronger and more dynamic person!). We started this semester and plan on continuing until we feel led to do otherwise (The schools in that neck of the woods are a little TOO rural for my liking, so homeschooling is THE best option for us!). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, here's what I've been doing since graduation: -After I left San Antonio in '84, went to Central Florida coast (Melbourne/Palm Bay). My mom passed away from cancer there THE day the Challenger shuttle blew up (January 28th, 1996). My brother Reed, was living in Orlando, in a group/host home situation. Since I had a pretty good job at Harris Semiconductor, I decided to stay. My sister & her family were still at Patrick AFB, so it was good to be close to family. Within the next few years, I got a little more level headed, found a good life giving church, and just grew up some more. I finally got married in 1991 to a guy I met at church. Had our first baby in Nov. '92 and the boys came one after the other, just two years apart. We decided to head to Colorado and try our hand at owning our own business. Raising a family AND a business at the same time was a challenge, but I couldn't recommend a better place to do it in than Colorado Springs. I brought my brother out with us to Colorado also and he...Expand for more
continues to live there today. He's getting up there in age too (he'll be 47 this year), and for having Downs Syndrome, is doing well. We continued working the business & doing our thing in Colorado, came back to S.A. for my niece's wedding and a family reunion in 2001. Got back home to Colorado on Monday night, Sept, 10th and woke up the next morning to 9/11. Having just been to S.A. and the 9/11 shock going on, it was tough to forgo coming to our 20th Reunion that summer. I'm still a stay-at-home Mom for the most part. After a couple dance/hiking injuries in Colorado, I got hooked on Pilates after physical therapy ended and started teaching it when our youngest began Kindergarten. LOVE IT! Been down with Fibromyalgia for a few years, but by staying as fit as possible, I've been able to stay ahead of the worst that Fibromyalgia brings on. I can't emphasize enough the importance of FITNESS & STRETCHING (and Jesus!) for a healthier and happier life! While still in Colorado Springs, my husband got activated (in 2003) with his Army Reserves Unit and spent ALL of 2004 in Iraq. From that point the kids and I headed to Killeen (Fort Hood)Texas to be closer to family (my niece & her family and my sister in SA). Stayed busy with the kids during my husbands deployment. Found a really good church here. My husband came home safe and sound as of Spring 2005 as did the rest of his aviation unit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **We've been in Killeen for just over 4 years now...my husband continuing is aviation work for Dyn Corp., and we really love our church, Grace Christian Center. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **I spent much of my 2007 summer taking classes in Dallas for the rest of my STOTT Pilates Certification. I still can't recommend Pilates enough! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I still enjoy doing crafts like mosaics and jewelry making. I don't do as much in the "Worship Arts" these days, but love serving the community by teaching & choreographing "worship & praise dancing", designing & building sets, program/stage management for various concerts, conferences and other church affiliated events when opportunity presents itself. Since the Fibromyalgia diagnosis, I'm more limited in how I spend my time. Family is pretty much my main priority. Still intending to get my book published...and some other works too. One of these days... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **I'm teaching Pilates 3 times a week now and will grieve the loss of my clients!! **I have also been doing some merchandising for a company called Driveline Retail Solutions here in Killeen. I really love it...basically make my own schedule and it's just a enough....love getting out and making a difference. **Got new puppies! See my album! Bordie Collie "Dottie" and our new St. Bernard Mix "Bobbie Sox". *That's it for the Beginning OF 2008!!! *Look me up on myspace! Blessings, Margaret (aka "Maggie)
